We found an old trunk at the farm after Grandma Ruth passed away. Someone had painted it dark brown! I rescued it and painted it in Americana style to go with my décor at that time. Since my decorating style has changed dramatically, I decided it needed a redo.....vintage style. Spray paint, modge podge and scrapbook paper are wonderful things. I began going thru my stash of scrapbook paper and came across a lot of sewing themed paper as well as Paris, and French word papers, so that is how I began.
Not hard work, but it was time consuming. I work on this on and off for about 3 weekends or so. I used vintage dictionary pages to line the inside. I am really pleased how well it turned out.

THERE'S A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING!
Just want to brag a bit today. Yesterday I did my first 5k race! Who'd a thunk it? A year ago I could barely walk around the block and weighed almost 300 pounds! Today I am down 115 pounds and ran a 5k in 44.28 minutes. It was extra special because I ran it with my daughter and grandson....woohoo, a 3 generation 5k!
I came in 154th....but I still beat 57 other people! Next time I need to pick a flatter course!

Vintage Child's Chalkboard Redo
I bought this little easel/chalkboard at a garage sale last August for $5.00. It was a little cloudy and damp today, but I couldn't wait any longer to tackle this project, so I got out the spray paint and went to work. I used scrapbooking cardstock as well as chalkboard cardstock. The board flips over and I can hang things up with the little clothespins. I am pretty pleased with the outcome.
the before.....and then the afters. |
